Guidelines for Work in Progress
- Character
- Personal, informal or descriptive accounts of work
in progress which could include projects, courses,
research actions, visits, meetings or other events.
- Selection
- Work In Progress items are moderated by the editors.
- Maximum length
- 4,000 words. This includes all text.
- Page 0
- The first page, which should be numbered 0,
should contain the following information, which
should not be included in other pages:

- Indication that the submission is a work in progress
- Descriptive title of the item
- Names and affiliations of all authors
- Name and address for correspondence
- Structure
- Work In Progress items may be structured in any way, but
the structure must be appropriate to the content of the
item.
- Headings
- Headings should be included at only one level, and
should not be numbered.
- References
- Where it is felt a reference is necessary, the
conventions for citation and reference for papers
submitted to JeLit should be adopted.
- Footnotes
- Footnotes should not be used in Work In Progress items.
- Acknowledgements
- Acknowledgements, where appropriate, should be
included in the text of Work In Progress items.
- Appendices
- Relevant appendices may be included in Work
In Progress items.
- Font
- All text should be in Times New Roman, 12 point
normal.
- Spacing
- All submissions should be single spaced.
- Paragraphs
- Paragraphs should not be indented. Leave one
blank line between each paragraph.
- Emphasis
- Use italics to indicate emphasis. Do not underline
text.
- Tables

- Tables should be included in the text at appropriate
places and centred horizontally
- A caption of up to 8 words should be placed under
each table
- Tables should be numbered sequentially and must be
referred to in the text as Table 1, Table 2, etc

- Figures

Figures should be included in the text at appropriate
places and centred horizontally

A caption of up to 8 words should be placed under each
figure

Figures should be numbered sequentially and must be
referred to in the text as Figure 1, Figure 2, etc

Figures must have a maximum width of 500 pixels. Most
graphics programmes will show the width of an image in
pixels. The editors reserve the right to crop any image
wider than 500 pixels

As well as including them in the text, attach
separate copies of all figures as individual files in
GIF or JPEG format.
- Address for correspondence
- The address for correspondence supplied in the
email which accompanied the submission will be taken
as the address for correspondence to be appended
to the published item. If a different address for
correspondence is required for the published item,
this must be specified in the email.
